Nemo found...

An icelandic girl is preparing her first amigurumi book in icelandic these days and asked me to test one of her patterns, it was a pattern for a gold fish you can see here. Since I had some orange in my stash, I decided it was time to find Nemo again.

Following the orginal pattern it looked like this without it´s fins. I sewed the eyes on, since I did not have any security/glue on eyes. I did not sew on the smile *honest* ;) as I started with the photo shoot he gave me a big smile. The beauty of crocheting amigurumi dolls is how they come to life in your hands with every stich and with every piece of filling. I'm not sure he will still be here in the morning, he might sneak out hop into the river outside my door and swim to the  next ocean.

I guess he would make a cool kitty toy (I might know a kitty who would love him), or as a part of a baby mobile.

Mollie Makes Flower Coasters

 Mollie Makes Flower Coasters

The pattern is easy to follow and in no time you have a pretty crochet flower coaster. Check out the photo tutorial on mollie makes. I used up some cotton left overs from other projects to try out this pattern.

Kitty Lunch Box Cozy

You might remember the Owl Lunch Box Cosy I made for my sister last year. Well at the same time I did a cozy for my Lunch Box, but didn´t finish it off ´til recently. Mine turned into this kitty :) She got a japanese face from Pierrot from their oven mitt pattern. To be able to hold it and so the cosy wouldn´t slip of, I added a chain of thicker yarn, that would be long enough to bind into a bow.

It really holds the food inside warm for a long time and I guess cold too on a warmer day. So it´s practical too ;)

Crochet Rose Bookmark

“If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.”
(M.T. Cicero)

Combine those two and you will have a pretty rose bookmark to put inside your book.

Or use it for your next blind date like in the movie You´ve got mail (1998) when Shopgirl (Meg Ryan) brought a book and a rose to her blind date with NY152 (Tom Hanks).

How the rose was made & how to do your own

For the Rose: similar pattern can be found here

Green part of rose: chain 6 then form a ring, in the ring do several dc (20-26), next row do 9dc in same chain, hop over 2 or 3 chains and do a slip stich, then start all over. I got 4 pedals this way. I attached it then with the right sight out to the rose, to hide the bottom of the rose, here I also attached the chain.

Chain:  make a chain to fit your book, I chained about 55.

Leafs: I did a leaf by chaining 8, then doing a sc, hdc, dc, trc, dc, hdc, sc on one side then on the same on the other side. But here is a nice picture tutorial for crocheting leafs as well. Do two then attach to the chain on both sides.
